This year has brought so many wonderful weddings – I am one happy, grateful photographer. I’m going to have to look through this whole site to see if I’ve said this before – but this simple Denver wedding may be my all time favorite wedding day. Ladies and gents, meet Carly and Andy. They adore each other; they cherish their story and wrapped their entire wedding day in the sweet details of how they met and who supported them along the way. It was an honor to document their day as it unfolded.
If you are plotting to celebrate a genuine wedding day within Denver’s natural beauty, and want to keep the planning simple but the experience amazing for you and your guests – do what these two did. I don’t think you could go wrong. First: get ready at home. Carly dressed with her ladies at a dear friend’s house, and Andy suited up at home in their apartment. Second: set aside some alone time in a meaningful place. Carly’s mom and sister escorted her back home to see Andy for the fist time, and we arranged it to be on their cozy sunroom balcony – the very spot where Andy proposed. Then: host an outdoor ceremony beneath the columns of the Pavillion in Cheesman Park, and walk from the park with your guests through the private, back door entrance to the Denver Botanical Gardens for a lovely, intimate evening reception. Also: choose a family style dinner so your guests interact, pass dishes, and serve each other dollops (they had outstanding food from Catering by Design). Add an authentic Colorado bluegrass band (Blue Grama was stellar!), share milkshakes in lieu of cake, hope for flawless weather, and – voila! – wedding day perfection. At least in my book :)
Of course, the sincere love and the depth of support from their family and friends is what tied everything together beautifully. Ya can’t buy that stuff ;) Carly, I have a hunch you may be reading this – I send my biggest THANKS to you and Andy for including me in this day. I hope you enjoy this handful of personal favorites:
